I think they will. What they've been able to do so far is insanely impressive and it's apparent they are trying to heighten their profile.

Almost like they exist in the middle of the USD/SDSU arms race and are trying to flex their muscles.

I actually drove past the Cybersecurity center at near the Pentagon today and it's looking really nice.

Gotta give the War Damm Golden Eagles credit for baseball. Crookston went 2-0 against AU and 2-1 vs. MSU Mankato and finished 3rd in the conference at 28-10 only 1 game behind 2nd place Mankato!

when you can fully fund a sport you can compete. no football does that for baseball

Wanna know a crazy stat? According to UMC's records, they went 167- 797 between 1968-2014. Between 2015-2024, they've gone 240-213.

If you subtract the JUCO stuff, they went 61-558 during their D2 stay before 2015.

Gust is a great coach who understands the game locally. Not only can he recruit, but his player development is second only to Concordia-St. Paul right now. I remember reading about how he got Zach Siepel to join the program - a guy nobody really wanted, and turned him into UMC's first MLB Draft Pick (which is incredibly rare for any program not named CSP, SCSU, or AU).

But... I don't think lightning will strike twice. If he leaves, I doubt UMC will have it in them to replace him, and will surely drop back down the rankings. So credit where credit is due for sure, but it's also on thin ice.
