so far Jamestown has been ok -- not great but not unexpected for a D2 transition.
Football struggled and volleyball did (especially given volleyball was a NAIA power) but both basketball teams have been competitive, not terrible. men have clearly exceeded expectations.

I’ll grant you the Jimmie men exceeded expectations in basketball. But the women’s team is/was not good at all, borderline terrible.Originally posted by MrMustang View Postso far Jamestown has been ok -- not great but not unexpected for a D2 transition.

MrMustang and I sat through the Allison Kruger years in Marshall.....what the Jimmies did this year in WBB in Year 1 was not terrible. Turn off your championship level purple homer glasses and maybe you'll understand that there are more levels to Division II athletics than just championship caliber or terrible.Originally posted by Purple Mav Man View Post

Congratulations. And those years were about as bad as D2 gets. So, it’s unlikely Jamestown was going to be that bad. Also, it wasn’t like they were starting a brand new program from scratch. Year 1 of D2, yes. They finished at the bottom of the conference, only better than (surprisingly bottoming out) Wayne. They were blown out of quite a few games. Maybe terrible isn’t fair. Very bad is maybe more accurate.Originally posted by Stanger86 View Post

I have high expectations for MSU, sure. But not for other schools. Glasses off, only an SMSU fan would find a positive from 2nd to last. I even acknowledged that the Jimmie men outperformed expectations, so it’s definitely not all or nothing for me 🤷🏼♂️
