I actually saw a thread on Facebook where Goofer fans were blaming Governor Walz, license tabs, taxes, the new flag, and whatever else they could. Maybe it just comes down to the Goofer job isn't what it used to be. Coyle has tried to turn the U into a football/basketball school, and hockey has been pushed aside.Originally posted by MrMustang View PostI had no idea Augie had enough money to keep a hockey coach from bolting to the Gophers. They must have some serious boosters.
Having said that, I am amazed the Summit doesn't want them given SDSU and NDSU will both eventually leave and so will St. Thomas. 3 less teams with no new ones will be a challenge for the SummitMillsy

USD and SDSU want nothing to do with Augustana and neither of those two are leaving the Summit anytime soon.Originally posted by MrMustang View PostI had no idea Augie had enough money to keep a hockey coach from bolting to the Gophers. They must have some serious boosters.

Augie can't afford the DI move now that they went all-in on hockey. I'm not a big basketball fan so I think it was the right move, personally - I'm sure most won't agree though.Last edited by SW_Mustang; 03-23-2026, 07:48 AM.

I-29 will be busy with traffic from the north. Those east coast teams don't travel well, so Sioux Falls will be all Hawks fans, at least 75%.Originally posted by SW_Mustang View PostMSU was not given the Sioux Falls nod yesterday - will instead go to Loveland, CO. Sioux Falls is getting UND, Merrimack, Quinnipiac, and Providence.
Sioux Falls people will note Ethan Wyttenbach for Quinnipiac, which has my rootin' interest this week.
It would be interesting to see if Merrimack, Quinnipiac and Providence even sell their allotment of tickets.Millsy

My hope is that it draws a large local contingent - especially on Saturday, though those folks will come for UND as well. Last go around was a lot of fun, but we also had the Goofs, the other Mavs, and Macklin Celebrini. Easy to draw people in Sioux Falls with that lineup.Originally posted by Millsy View Post

As much as I despise Facebook it does provide wonderful content such as that. I understand that football drives a lot of revenue but in my opinion they should devote more to hockey and basketball both men and women. Women had the arena packed for their games over the weekend and the men should be a tournament regular soon enough. Hockey speaks for itself.Originally posted by Millsy View Post

Mavs will have a rematch of their double OT loss to Western Michigan. They were one hit goal post from the upset.Originally posted by SW_Mustang View PostMSU was not given the Sioux Falls nod yesterday - will instead go to Loveland, CO. The region also has the two most recent national champions in Western Michigan (2025) and Denver (2024).
Minnesota State's Tristan Lemyre was a member of both those teams.

Not sure where else to share this so I'll share it here - but Minnesota State sophomore pitcher Braden Grimm was arrested for assaulting a female police officer and is currently in the Blue Earth County jail.
There is a video of the arrest and the injury to the officer is quite visible - fourth degree assault seems a little light (but I'm not a law expert).
His roster page 404's so I assume he's off the team (as he should be).
