Should Jamestown be accepted into the NSIC?

How the hell does Jamestown sponsor 18 sports, 4 ACHA hockey teams and Men's soccer, accepted into D2 GNAC conference. The GNAC is in the northwest, including 2 Alaska teams and Simon Frazier in Canada. Also, Men's Volleyball where they reside in the GLVC. Crazy!!!

It helps that tuition is $24,000/year. Kind of explains why they have four club hockey teams and several JV squads...

The Newman family has also donated a lot to the university.

In fairness, neither of the Alaska schools sponsors soccer, and Jamestown is being brought in to replace Simon Fraser (who's leaving the NCAA in 2027) so that the GNAC can retain their men's soccer autobid, so there will be no international or Alaskan trips in the Jimmies' future.

On the other hand, their closest GNAC game will be Northwest Nazarene, outside of Boise, Idaho, so not a whole lot better.

Maybe it is time for MSU-Mankato to leave the NSIC again? I mean, they have done it twice already, and maybe they are just getting too big for us lower life forms.

If the MIAC can boot St. Thomas out, maybe it is time for the NSIC to boot Mankato? Then they could go D-I and avoid all the probations.

Noone is saying you are lower life forms. I am saying that I think "Full" Conference Membership should require a school to sponsor at least 80% of the conferences sports.

However, fingers crossed that we do go D1.

Winona State Gymnastics is a varsity NCAA team and affiliated with the WIAC. It's on the NCAA directory.

No it's part of the NGCA, no D2 school can compete for nationals in D3. So it can't be sanctioned by the NCAA as they have an open National Championship level

The way we "unanimously accepted" them I wouldn't be surprised that the the NSIC is probably kicking in to float a member school by while it "build it's brand" and grow into D2.
