Both Levity and Noble Stein are on wayne ave. Levity I think is in part of the old Gorrell factory across from Har-Tees mini golf and noble stein is up near Hoss's. I don't drink but Levity's food is good.

Shawndale, David and Tomiwa made first-team All-PSAC West. This is just the fourth time in program history to have three make the first team.

Joe was named West Coach of the Year.

Shawndale was also named PSAC West Athlete of the Year (i.e. MVP). He is the 8th straight IUP player to win this award (an IUP player has won this award 11 of the past 13 seasons).

Sunday, however, the IUP fans really turned out for the final and just about took over the gym. Ship had gone on Spring Break that year which is always helpful to the visitors. I'm not sure if Spring Break started yesterday or not.

That said, IUP's travel contingent has really grown over the past three years. The weather also looks favorable for tomorrow so I do expect IUP to have at least 250-300 or so make the trip. Perhaps more. A lot of IUP people I know said they'll make the trip 'if' there is a Sunday. Usually in this instance only the diehards make the trip both days. It's short enough you don't really 'need' to get a hotel.

The oddest thing you'll ever see is when the home team doesn't make it to Sunday. The Sunday game, when that happens, usually has a very empty feeling, crowd-wise. If they are lucky they may have 400-500. Mercyhurst doesn't travel well at all -- likely 30-50 people max.

Ship is a good venue for the West teams (on years the East hosts). It's a relatively short trip compared to the other usual suspects. Parking is very easy at Heiges. It's an older venue but they've done some nice upgrades to it.

I'll never forget IUP beating Ship in that final three years ago. About two days later the world shut down due to Covid and the following weekend's Regional was cancelled. That weekend was about 70-75 degrees and everybody had shorts on at the game.

Anybody else notice the two games tomorrow are an exact duplicate to when Ship hosted in 2020?
The odd thing for me is that I have something scheduled I can't get out of, so won't be able to go to the semifinals a half-hour from my house. That sucks big-time as obviously Ship won't be hosting next year and maybe for a while after that depending on how the records fall. I probably will try to get to the championship game no matter who makes the finals. With a still-hobbled Sleva, Ship obviously would not be the betting favorite among the four remaining teams, but I'll root for an upset.

The Covid year shut down a 24-7 Ship team in the NCAAs that IUP had beaten in the PSAC final. That was John Castello's final team. Jake Biss never got in the tourney after his freshman year, when the last Dustin Sleva team at Ship reached the Sweet 16 with decisive wins over West Liberty and Virginia State, only to be beaten in the regional final by an East Stroudsburg team they had beaten by 25 points a couple of weeks earlier. A 24-7 Ship team would have a decent chance at qualifying this year.

Wow ... I forgot about that.

IUP could have pulled it off but the women would have had to play in the Fieldhouse ... which they probably threw a fit about. Indiana does have the infrastructure to accommodate that many teams, hotel-wise. I recall that was an NCAA rule/decision because most D2 towns could not accommodate both events at the same time.

Most soft spoken guy you'll ever meet off the court.

There’s no way I’d want that clown coaching here if the opportunity presented itself.

When they huddled and called the intentional foul, which was the right call, Danny lost it. His exact words as he’s pointing at Joe…”F$@* that guy!” Then he points addresses Joe directly with something to the effect of him whining and getting every call. At that point the building erupted and I couldn’t make it out. Anyway, for him to address Joe directly says it all. He absolutely should have been T’d up for that outburst. When I can clearly hear the F bomb sitting with my six year old in Row 5, that’s not acceptable. As the saying goes, winners focus on winning and losers focus on winners. Cal’s season is over again at the hands of IUP.

The atmosphere at the KCAC was electric. With about 15 minutes before game time I was concerned because the crowd wasn’t looking great and it was kind of quiet in the place. Then out of nowhere it filled in and it was on. Great job by the fans and all involved. Even my kid started yelling late in the game and he usually barely pays attention. The players were feeling the energy too. I thought it was hilarious when Tomiwa encouraged the crowd to get on the ref after a foul call in the second half. Tomiwa also had something to say to Danny too late in the first half. Per usual, the crowd and team responds to his energy. He didn’t add much to the scoresheet but he dominated the boards.

Ethan was obviously great. Overall it was good team basketball. Nobody tried to do too much. Dallis was an unsung hero again. I’ll give credit where it’s due with KJ who had meaningful productive minutes. Dave hit a couple big threes. Stewart hit a couple as well. Shawndale had some pretty drives. He’s a strong kid that Cal has no answer for when he drives to the rim. I was surprised Kyle didn’t see the floor.

You are correct. The building was close to empty 20 minutes before tip-off. It was really weird. Then it was like 'poof' and booming within 5 minutes. I've never seen that in all the years in that building. It went from empty to 3,300 people in about 6 minutes. Their night games started at 7:30 p.m. all year and last night tipped at 7 p.m. Wonder if that was the curveball.

Atmosphere-wise, that was the best crowd since the regional final last year against Cal ... really loud and engaged.

I re-watched the play today. The IUP broadcast showed the replay about 8 times.

What we have to keep in mind is the officials saw it once in real time. The KCAC video board showed the replay several times which got the already heated crowd much more heated ... so it's possible they did look up there.

Yes, he did get both hands on the ball -- but, how did he do that (essentially via a neck tackle, attempted headlock, ... whatever you want to call it).

What's interesting (and I didn't catch last night) was after the call the game was eventually started back up. Shawndale was at the line ready to shoot and then he turns back to see all the commotion. So, Danny's freak out actually happened while the whistles had been blown to start the game back up. Not only did he act like an a$$ but he delayed the game. It's amazing no technical was called on him or he wasn't ejected.

I guess he was surprised Hannah got a flagrant after neck tackling Shawndale. LOL.

That was probably the best freak out in the KCAC since the days of Kevin Reynolds.

Danny is now 0-12 against Joe.
