The ACHA isn't on the college hockey hierarchy any more than the NCBBA is for college basketball or the NCBA is for baseball.

Only 20-ish athletic departments operate an ACHA program nationwide - the rest are all student organizations.
I meant isn't the value proposition of ACHA D1 to provide an alternative to NCAA varsity (any division)? Let's face it, many schools operate their D1 club teams as a varsity team- that's how ASU and Penn State were able to transition to competitive NCAA D1 programs so quickly. These programs are recruiting junior ranks and could dip into the transfer portal.

So what if it isn't NCAA? If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck...

It's certainly possible, but I think if faced with that option - most schools would rather just fold the program than deal with the logistics of it.

And I mean... PSU's success has nothing to do with the ACHA. I'd argue the same for ASU, though they've already been surpassed by Augustana. Then there's Lindenwood...

It's also pay-to-play for the non-university sponsored teams and those fees can run into the thousands. It's why some schools love the ACHA, they can get 30 tuition payments a year per team without having to provide any real support to the program.

      • We need another topic in this thread...

This is the junk drawer thread. We get rid of this chaos would ensue. The trick it to stay out for a couple days then come back to look at the last post, then try to figure out the topic we've moved on to. Keeps us on our toes. Occasionally it leads to self reflection on needing additional hobbies outside of golf but like the hope of the MN Vikings its short lived.

It is the beast that is wounded but won't die. As I said before, it is like the drawer that you keep the spare shoestring, the half a candle, the bottle opener- stuff that you won't use but you won't throw it away either.

                    • Don't worry guys, we'll have plenty to discuss when Jimmy basketball gets going.

Looks like Northern is first up tomorrow.

Also of note - the Junior Jimmies got rocked by North Dakota Science a few days ago.

Junk drawers are like trees in the forest. Everytime you throw something away, two more items take its place.

They're tough to stay on top of - that's for sure.

Just like that Jimmy offense that's coming for the NSIC.

I don’t know a thing about NDSCS Wildcat hoops, but this much is true…don’t sleep on them! Don’t take them lightly!

It was a mollywhopping - I'll say that much!

I also looked into the Junior Jimmies' women's team - they played some of their early season games at a casino. That rules.
