Speaking of hockey, I couldn't help but notice Hermantown lost in the section semi-finals. I will miss hate watching them.
There have been a few upsets in the Sections.
Class A:
Cloquet knocked off Hermantown in Section 7 semifinals (3 over 2)
Minneapolis Co-op beat Breck in the Section 2 quarterfinals (6 over 3)
Willmar beat Fergus Falls in the Section 6 quarterfinals (6 over 3)
Detroit Lakes over defending Class A champ East Grand Forks in the Section 8 semifinals (3 over 2)
Class AA
Chanhassen over Shakopee in the Section 2 semifinals (3 over 2)
Rosemount over St. Thomas Academy in the Section 3 championship (even though this was 1 over 2, the seed was settled by an online random generator as the two teams tied in voting, most pundits felt St. Thomas would still walk away with the Section)
Andover over Maple Grove in the Section 5 semifinals (5 over 1)
Centennial over Blane in the Section 5 semifinals (3 over 2)
Wayzata over Rogers in the Section 6 semifinals (4 over 1, Rogers has just beat Moorhead and Minnetonka the week before sections)
Elk River over St. Michael in the Section 8 semifinals in 2 OTs (3 over 2)
Luverne vs. Mankato West for the 3A title. That should be a fun one.
Marshall got obliterated by Mankato East holy moly
My son and I are going to the Moorhead/Elk River game tonight in Alexandria (my son has played a lot of spring/summer/fall hockey with some of the Moorhead kids). Moorhead should win easily.

Its crazy how a bunch of sections have their title game tonight meanwhile section 4AA hasn't had their semi-finals yet.

Have you made it to the tourney yet? I've been on the wait list for yearly AA passes for 15 years now.

Yeah - the Spuds are a great program. Last year's AA final was a classic. I was at the MSU game watching Mason Kraft on my phone as many in the crowd were.
I still haven't gone to the state tournament though. That's near the top of my hockey bucket list. SoDak's state tourney is fun in its own right, I have seen that a couple times.

I bought tickets 2nd hand from a ticket exchange Facebook Group I'm in back in 2018 or 2017, whenever Minnetonka beat Duluth East. A packed NHL area for a high school game is incredible, not to mention how talented those kids are.

I've heard it's an amazing atmosphere - those kids are some of the best in the country. I try to catch as much as I can on TV.
I did go to HDM once and saw Hill-Murray play St. Thomas and that was a great matchup. Then I saw Alex Bump and Prior Lake play at HDM in Mankato a few years ago. Such a special thing MN has.
