"That opening developed because former Tulane wide receivers coach John McMenamin resigned suddenly to spend more time with his family..."

The article was from July 2023 and is the latest update I could find in my brief search.
I thought I'd heard he had gotten out of coaching. Thanks!

That's how Pitt got their current coach.

My question, speaking hypothetically, let’s say NW does run the table from here. Does RW keep his job? Is there any way in hell he can keep it or is it a lost cause and he should pretty much just quit based on this lengthy board topic.

          • Also speaking hypothetically, Jon Dkystra laid out a possible playoff scenario for NW. If this doesn’t fall into place, no playoffs for a second year in a row, and RW is likely job hunting:

“Just for your scoreboard watching. Here's how Northwest makes the playoffs in football.

            Bearcat Wishlist:
            NW wins out
UCO wins out (includes wins over Pitt and Emporia)
Emporia loses one more (UNK, UCM, Hays)

In that scenario; Northwest, Pitt State, Emporia State and Fort Hays State all have 3 losses and Northwest would own the head-to-head over all of them. The playoff field would likely be Harding, Central Oklahoma, Grand Valley, Ferris, UIndy, Ouachita/Henderson winner and Northwest/Pitt winner.”

The odds of that scenario can't be very good but might be worth a wager on a sports betting app if you could, lol.

What is lays out though is the must-win for NW: they have to run the table starting today to have a chance, and the chances of that happening are pretty slim. Odds are it will be either Pitt or UCO this year.

                  • 1st back to back years missing playoffs since ‘94-‘95. At this point 4-7 could be a distinct possibility.

I have the feeling that a Tatum-directed housecleaning may be in the offing.

100% agree!! I’m tired of seeing him point fingers at what everyone else has done wrong, taking zero credit for him or his staff.

                            • At this point I don't even see NW beating NSU since they put 54 up on UCO yesterday.

The captain of the Titanic had more of a chance to save his ship...

The current version of the team is no different than the team that started the season. You have a QB/team/coaches that can't take care of the ball/mistake prone. You can say all you want about the talent you think you have. Decision making is a skill.
