Except some people don't want to do that. They'd rather be hypercritical and judgmental about any school that dare express interest in the sacred NCAA Division II.

DII is serious business.

They would be welcomed into the NSIC. They add value. Jamestown still does not. It's not complicated but you push a narrative that we think nobody is good for the NSIC. These squads are, and they are instantly accepted in I think everyone's book.

Maybe it's just me but the NCC would have ceased in the summer before high school and I wasn't aware the conference even existed. Granted, they didn't pull a ton of athletes from our community as far as I know. A pair of brothers went to Augustana, but that's all I can recall offhand - probably more in the sports I don't follow.
One question I always had is if UMD is considered an NCC school or not. They were in the MIAC for 5x longer than the NCC and are on their third stint in the NSIC, is it just because they came over when the NCC went down?

It's fun to laugh these things off, but they are 100% valuable from a conference perspective. The conference has to think about more than just wins and losses. They think about travel....how long are STUDENT-athletes out of class. How much does a school's travel budget need to be. How many nights are they staying in hotels. These things matter. They are not fun to think about as fans, but they are absolutely talked about in league meetings.

The travel, hotels and missed classes are not as big of a deal, from a football fan perspective. I don’t follow the other sports as closely, but when I consider sports with more than one game per week, it’s a big deal. Budgets are always a concern. Good points

Jamestown knows what the NSIC is. I'm sure they know it might be a while for them to be competitive in some sports, if at all. But they are obviously willing to take that chance. I think restarting regional rivalries with UMary, Minot, Northern and MSUM is a big draw for the university and that region. And I know people think that there aren't enough ND kids for another D2 school, and that might be. But Jamestown is also positioned better than both UMary and Minot, being the closest of the three to Minnesota. I do think that they can survive just fine in Division II.

Jamestown will likely end up similar to Mary and Minot, trying to bring in players (for football) from all over hoping some will work out and/or stick.
Other sports? They could possibly get competitive in a few years. But those MN kids you reference above…why skip all the other schools for Jamestown?
