Nope..I can tell you that is not the correct identify.

fwiw..most of the coaches under 55 read the forum in the past or still do. I’ve joked with them about it in the past and they’ve told me. I can tell you that two head coaches that I know fairly well that are sitting coaches in FCS would regularly ask me about certain posts and so forth. They go as far as asking me who posters were..real identity..to which I told them we weren’t going down that road.

If a coach is barely active on twitter, that’s probably the same coach who doesn’t check out the forum. Some longtime coaches have gone from lurkers on here to now just measuring the pulse of fan feedback via socials.
For the next podcast you should give coaches a list of posts and comments from our top members and ask the coaches to draw them based on how they think we look based on said comments. Could get interesting.

I’ll say it. Any coach that asks for a message board identity is incredibly insecure. Ridiculous. Appreciate you sharing this.

First, make sure that the picture isn't too big or it may not post. I just go to copy image and make sure that I put at least one word or mark on it.

Pfft, you don't know who I am...

I might need to confer with D2MB legal counsel about my next steps.

To be very clear..the last time this occurred was a few years ago. It comes up from time to time when a poster gets personal with their comments..directing them at a coach with inflammatory statements. Sometimes they’ve been made aware of them from a fan or coach on staff. In any event, we don’t go down that road.

The main reasons we’ve found that coaches check out the forum is because there are some posters who post news items, schedule info, player info, and such..that could be the first time someone is hearing of the news. A large portion of the D2 landscape isn’t covered much by their local news, often taking a backseat to D1 schools and their coverage. So..the forums here after one of the few places in which D2 football gets talked about. Twitter has certainly changed the game and if you aren’t on there following your school/league, you will seemingly be late on the news if you simply use the forum only.

Also to be clear, I didn’t think it happened often or without reason. Appreciate the additional info as going back and forth in messages is a harder conversation than speaking, obviously. Personal attacks on a coach are also out of bounds, IMO. Say your piece, disagree with their game prep/plan, etc. But unless they’ve done something terrible (which would likely get them canned anyway) personal attacks aren’t necessary.

^I say this knowing full well I disagreed with Schlichte’s play calling at times and thought he wasn’t ready. But I’m not going to take personal shots at him! (I know you’re not saying I am, either…ha. Just more context)

I would think this could be a beneficial place for coaches to find info. They’re generally smart enough to weed through the BS 🙂

                    • Mustangs play at Jamestown on Sept 13. Wonder if it will be Jameston home opener?

I know someone said they are at Augie the week before. I'd guess they host one of their ND rivals in Week 0, but it's possible. Might at least be their first home game against an NSIC team.

                        • Duluth has Jamestown this year as well, replacing the exciting matchup with Northern Michigan with an equally exciting in conference game.

                          • Good lord I hope we beat Jamestown this year. If not - might need to consider wrapping up the football program.

                            • If I recall correctly, Jamestown doesn’t have a W0 opponent. I think they were good just playing a 10 gamer in their first year or D2.

Kinda shocked they wouldn’t schedule one of their previous conference opponents at home, just to get another gate.
