Bloomsburg upset No. 24 Shepherd on the road by a final of 27-21. The Huskies (5-2) won at Ram Stadium for the second straight trip, and also knocked off Shepherd for the third time in four years.
The defense set the tone for the day with a pick-six by Cole Turner just five minutes into the game. Shepherd would then surge ahead with back to back scores late in the first quarter and early in the second. However, they would be Shepherd's only offensive points of the day. Bloomsburg closed the first half with a 10-0 run to take a 17-14 lead into the halftime break.
Shepherd scored its only points of the second half with a blocked fielf goal that was returned 85 yards for a touchdown. That lead would last only a few minutes as Bloomsburg would respond with a 13-play, 60-yard drive to reclaim the lead, 24-21. A 37-yard field goal with 4:47 left in the game gave the Huskies a six point lead. The Rams would have two more opportunities in the final minutes, but the Bloomsburg defense allowed only three yards combined over those two drives.
A full game recap will follow later today.
