JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. (WVLT) - The new era of Carson-Newman football continues to reach new heights. The Eagles earned their first ranked win under Head Coach Ashley Ingram on Saturday, defeating no. 23 Wingate 31-28 in overtime.
After a missed Bulldog field goal to open the extra period, Bennett Smith hit a 34-yard field goal to give the Eagles the win.
The Eagle defense made ten tackles for loss in the win and tallied seven sacks.
Sophomore wide receiver Jeremiah Carroll hauled in three passes for 88 yards and two scores.
