Central Washington head coach Chris Fisk has resigned to accept the same position at Portland State University. Fisk recently completed his seventh season in Ellensburg. The Wildcats were 10-1 in the regular season and won the Lone Star Conference outright. Fisk earned recognition from AFCA as the organization's Division II, region four coach of the year. He completes his tenure with an overall record of 48-22, a Lone Star Conference championship (2025), two GNAC titles (2019, 2021) and four NCAA Division II playoff appearances. Fisk's Wildcat teams have finished no lower than second place since joining the Lone Star Conference in 2022.
Portland State is a Division I FCS program competing in the Big Sky Conference. The Vikings were 1-11 this season and recently parted ways with former head coach Bruce Barnum and his entire staff. The program has not posted a winning season since 2015.
