Delta State
Cole Kirk accounted for six total touchdowns in Delta State’s home opener last Saturday night. The senior quarterback from Selmer, Tennessee opened the scoring with an 89-yard touchdown run on the second play of the game. He would go on to rush for a total of 115 yards and two scores. He also passed for 301 yards, completing 16 of 21 attempts for an average of 18.8 yards per completion. Four of his completions resulted in touchdowns hauled in by three different receivers.

Minot State
Nalu Cordeiro established multiple program records in Minot State’s victory at Southwest Minnesota State. The true freshman defensive back from Honolulu, Hawaii became the first player in school history to return two interceptions for touchdowns in the same game. Early in the second quarter he thwarted a scoring threat by picking off a Mustang pass at the eight yard line and returning it 92 yards for a score. Late in the third quarter he made his second INT of the game and returned it 29 yards for his second TD of the night. The 92-yarder set a new school record for longest interception return.

Kobey Stephens
Return specialist
Central Oklahoma
Kobey Stephens got Central Oklahoma’s season off to a fast start by returning the opening kickoff of their season opener 98 yards for a touchdown. Later in the half Stephens returned a punt 90 yards for his second touchdown of the night. Stephens accumulated a total of 196 return yards in the Bronchos’ season opening victory. Kobey Stephens is a senior defensive back from Wewoka, Oklahoma.
