D2Football.com is pleased to announce the players of the week for week zero of the 2025 season. This week’s honorees are Fairmont State running back Leonard Farrow, UT Permian Basin linebacker Tristan Exline, and Wingate kicker Caleb Bonesteel.
Offense
Leonard Farrow, RB, Fairmont State
Leonard Farrow produced most of the offense in Fairmont State’s 24-21 victory over Seton Hill. Farrow tallied 274 rushing yards on 25 carries, averaging 11.0 yards per touch. He scored all three of the team’s touchdowns with two rushing scores and a 32-yard reception. Leonard Farrow is a redshirt junior from Mount Hope, West Virginia.
Defense
Tristan Exline, LB, UT Permian Basin
Tristan Exline led a UTPB defense that limited Central Oklahoma to just 14 points in the season opener. UCO led the nation in yards per game last season. Exline contributed nine total tackles, with five solo, a tackle for loss and a sack. The junior from China Spring, Texas was credited with two quarterback hurries and intercepted a pass that he returned fifteen yards. The Falcons turned the INT into points with a field goal on the following possession.
Special Teams
Caleb Bonesteel, K, Wingate
Caleb Bonesteel accounted for 12 points in Wingate’s 30-21 home victory over UNC Pembroke last Saturday night. Bonesteel was true on field goals of 42, 40 and 42 yards to go along with three PATs. Two of his field goals were in the fourth quarter with the final kick extending the lead from six points to the nine point final margin of victory. This is second career D2Football.com special teams player of the week honor for the graduate student from Dawsonville, Georgia.
