D2Football.com is pleased to announce the players of the week for week five of the 2025 season. This week’s honorees are Virginia Union running back Curtis Allen, Arkansas-Monticello linebacker Ghee Evans and Midwestern State punt returner Cedonyae Lott.
Offense
Curtis Allen, RB, Virginia Union
Curtis Allen continued his impressive season with another 200+ yard day rushing in a victory at Winston-Salem State. Allen totaled 234 rushing yards with four touchdowns, averaging 7.3 yards per carry in a 44-34 victory. Through five games, Allen is averaging 197 yards per game and has totaled 14 rushing touchdowns. Curtis Allen is a senior from Petersburg, Virginia
Defense
Ghee Evans, LB, Arkansas-Monticello
Arkansas Monticello won its second game of the season last Saturday behind a defense that allowed only 238 total yards. Linebacker Ghee Evans was the leader of that effort with 17 total tackles, including 12 solo. Among his stops were 5.5 tackles for loss, totaling 13 yards and four sacks for loss of 10 yards. For the season to date, Evans leads the Boll Weevils in total tackles, solo tackles, tackles for loss and sacks. Ghee Evans is a junior from Waynesboro, Mississippi.
Special Teams
Cedonyae Lott, PR, Midwestern State
Cedonyae Lott made that play that broke a fourth quarter tie and delivered a victory for Midwestern State. An 8-point scoring drive from Midwestern State with under four minutes to play tied their Saturday night contest with Texas A&M-Kingsville. The Mustangs defense then stood tall and forced a three-and-out possession that would give possession back to their offense. As it turned out, the offense wasn’t needed. Cedonyae Lott, a freshman from Dallas, Texas, made the play of the day. Lott caught the punt at his own 31 yard line and immediately dashed to his right, towards the home sideline. Following his blocks he cut back to the middle and raced to the end zone untouched for the game winning score. Video clip.
