D2Football.com is pleased to announce the players of the week for week six of the 2025 season. This week’s honorees are Anderson running back Bryson James, Emporia State linebacker Landon Boss and Quincy kicker Connor McAneney.
Offense
Bryson James, RB, Anderson
Running back Bryson James led Anderson to what is likely the biggest win in the program’s brief history. The Trojans, playing in just their second full season of collegiate football defeated Lenoir-Rhyne 35-28 on the road last Saturday afternoon. James accounted for nearly half of Anderson’s offensive production with 221 rushing yards on just 20 attempts. He averaged 11.1 yards per carry and scored three touchdowns. He set a new single game rushing record for the program and also set a new record for longest rush from scrimmage (73 yards). Bryson James is a redshirt sophomore from Cross Hill, South Carolina.
Defense
Landon Boss, LB, Emporia State
Emporia State earned a 31-24 win over visiting Missouri Southern last Saturday and linebacker Landon Boss had a dominant performance for the Hornets. He led the team with 11 total tackles, nine of which were solo. Among his tackles were four sacks for a loss of 34 yards. He also accounted for a quarterback hurry, a forced fumble and intercepted a pass that he returned four yards. His four sack performance tied a school record that has stood since 1995. Landon Boss is a junior from Osage City, Kansas.
Special Teams
Conor McAneney, K, Quincy
Quincy outlasted conference rival William Jewell in a one-point overtime victory in week six. The Hawks would not have reached the OT periods without the kicking of Conor McAneney. The freshman internatinal studen from Ireland has handled the kickoff duties all season but on Saturday, he took on place kicking duties as well. Attempting the first kicks of his college career, McAneney converted two fourth quarter field goals from distances of 44 and 45 yards to help the Hawks extend the game. He also converted all three PATs (the first three attempts of his career) and averaged 63.7 yards on six kickoffs, with three touchbacks.
