Offense
Jarius Stewart, QB, Eastern New Mexico
Jarius Stewart and Eastern New Mexico re-wrote record books in the Greyounds’59-35 victory over in-state rival Western New Mexico. Stewart set a new Lone Star Conference single game rushing record with 382 yards on 32 carries. He averaged 11.9 yards per rush and scored five rushing touchdowns. His rushing total broke the previous single game conference record of 342 yards, which was set by Northeastern State’s Carlton Boothe in 1998. Stewart’s performance helped ENMU tie the Division II record for team rushing yards in a single game (719). Jarius Stewart is a redshirt junior from Port Lavaca, Texas.
Defense
Mark Robinson DL Valdosta State
Mark Robinson’s defensive effort helped Valdosta State end a three game losing streak. The senior from Memphis, Tennessee had nine total tackles against North Greenville with four tackles for loss and four sacks for loss of 18 yards. He was also credited with a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and a quarterback hurry. His sack total tied a program record for sacks in a single game.
Special Teams
Massimo Sgambati, K, Assumption
Massimo Sgambati handled place kicking and kickoff duties for Assumption in their victory over American International. He averaged 62 yards on six kickoffs, with four touchbacks and was a perfect 5-for-5 on PATs. His final PAT of the day came immediately after his most notable contribution. Early in the fourth quarter, with 28-14 lead, Assumption set Sgambati on to attempt a 35 yard field goal. However, the Greyhounds opted for a fake and Sgambati rushed the ball for the game-sealing touchdown. For the day he was credited with 11 total points. Massimo Sgambati is a senior from Farmington Hills. Michigan.
