D2Football.com is pleased to announce the players of the week for four of the 2026 season. This week's honorees are Conor Carver of Bemidji State, Dominic Maultsby, Jr of West Liberty and Western Colorado's Jevon Young.
Offense
Connor Carver, QB, Bemidji State
Connor Carver is listed as a quarterback on the Bemidji State roster and his 335 yards of offense would have made for an impressive day throwing the ball. The junior from Fort Dodge, Iowa did indeed reach that total, but it was all the ground. On a rainy day at Chet Anderson Stadium, Carver carried 36 times for a single-game school record 335 yards. He scored four rushing touchdowns and accounted for 80% of Bemidji State’s offensive output. Carver’s day helped the team to a homecoming victory over Minot State, meaning the Beavers took the traditional post-game dunk in Lake Bemidji to celebrate the win.
Defense
Dominic Maultsby, Jr, LB, West Liberty
West Liberty allowed 35 points in the first half of their game against Concord, but just seven points after the halftime break and zero in the fourth quarter. The defensive turnaround allowed the offense to come back from a 21 point deficit and secure a dramatic 43-42 victory. Dominic Maultsby, Jr. led the effort with 14 total tackles, including 10 solo. Among his stops were three tackles for loss of 19 yards, a solo sack for loss of eight yards and a forced fumble. The comeback victory boosted West Liberty to a record of 4-1 overall and a conference-leading 2-0 in MEC play. Dominic Maultsby, Jr. is a redshirt freshman from Orlando, Florida.
Special Teams
Jevon Young, DB, Western Colorado
Jevon Young pulled off a hat-trick of blocked punts in Western Colorado’s win over Adams State last Saturday night. The second of his three blocks tricked into the end zone where Young pounced on it for his first career touchdown. He also added two tackles and a pass breakup on defense to go along with three punt blocks on special teams. Jevon Young is a senior from Colorado Springs, Colorado.
