Division II Draft Prospects - 2026

The NFL Draft takes place this weekend, and a handful of Division II prospects are hoping to hear their names called in the later rounds. In recent years, however, the number of Division II selections has dropped off noticeably. Last year, no Division II players were selected, and the 2024 draft featured just one pick — Findlay offensive lineman Michael Jerrell. The most recent draft with multiple D2 selections was 2023, but that year saw only two players taken. The last draft with more then two picks from Divsion II schools occurred in 2022 when there were five players taken. The draft pick drought will hopefully end at one year as a few players entered in this year's draft are graded with late-round potential. 

Earlier this month, the staff at D2Football.com spoke with our long-time professional scouting analyst Josh Buchanan to get his take on the top prospects from Division II schools. The list is highlighted by two of of the top headline-makers in 2025. Minnesota Moorhead quarterback Jack Strand is regarded as the top overall prospect from Division II. Strand is MSUM's all-time leader in career passing yards, touchdowns, completions and passing yards. He finished his career with 13,161 passing yards which is an an NSIC record and records 10th in Division II history. 

2025 Harlon Hill Award Winner Curtis Allen is among those hoping to earn a roster spot this coming fall. The Virginia Union running back finished 2025 leading Division II in total rushing yards, rushing yards per game, rushing touchdowns, total points scored, and points per game. He finished fourth nationally in yards per carry. Across all NCAA divisions, he was one of only two players to surpass 2,000 rushing yards, and the only one from Division II. His 30 rushing touchdowns led all NCAA divisions, while his total rushing yards and yards per game ranked second among all NCAA athletes.
