The Fred Mitchell Award has announced its 2026 Watch List, recognizing outstanding collegiate place-kickers from across the nation who are candidates for one of college football's most prestigious special teams honors.

The Fred Mitchell Award is presented annually to the nation's top place-kicker among eligible players competing in NCAA Division I FCS, Division II, Division III, and NAIA football. The award honors excellence both on the field and in the community, reflecting the values of its namesake, former record-setting kicker and sports journalist Fred Mitchell.

This year's Watch List features 12 student-athletes from NCAA Division II programs:

  • Connor Fournier, Minnesota State
  • Elijah Guyton, West Alabama
  • Preston Kyle, Colorado Mines
  • Brandon McCary, Emporia State
  • Brady Myers, Virginia Union
  • Jared Navidad, UNC Pembroke
  • Ty Quintois, East Stroudsburg
  • Harry Radcliffe, California
  • Bleu Renfrow, William Jewell
  • Layne Ryals, Missouri S&T
  • Austin Schmitt, Pittsburg State
  • Jackson Smith, CSU Pueblo

Throughout the season, members of the Watch List and other eligible kickers will be evaluated by the Fred Mitchell Award Selection Committee. Monthly recognitions will be announced during the season, culminating with the naming of the 2026 Fred Mitchell Award recipient later this year.
