GSC Playoff Quarterfinal

This week’s quarterfinal matchup features Super Region 2’s top two teams.

Bowie comes into the game after defeating Lenior-Rhyne and Newberry respectively.

The Bulldogs are led by their defense, which gives up 13 points per game while giving up 234 yards.  Bowie’s offense is balanced run to pass, averaging 361 yards per game while averaging 33 points per game.  Bowie ranks 5th in the nation total defense, 1st in 3rd down efficiency, 1st in red zone defense, 5th in scoring defense and 2nd in pass defense efficiency.  This matches up well with Valdosta’s high-powered offense.  Valdosta ranks 5th in 3rd down conversions, 5th in red zone offense, 5th in rushing offense, 5th in scoring offense and 2nd in total offense.  Valdosta State’s defense also boasted the Gulf South Conference’s leading scoring and passing defense.  Last week the Blazer offense exploded for 66 points in their second-round playoff victory against West Georgia.  The Bulldogs, CIAA Champions, have not seen a team like this Valdosta State team all year.  The Blazers explosive offense, mixed with a solid defense will give problems to the Bulldog offense this week.  Look for Seth McGill and Ivory Durham to have big games in the season’s most important game so far.  Bowie might be able to slow down Valdosta for a little while, but the Blazers have too much offense! Look for Valdosta to score big in this one as they continue hunting another national championship!

Prediction: Valdosta State
