TIGERVILLE, S.C. – North Greenville University won the inaugural Conference Carolinas Bowl on Saturday. The Trailblazers topped UNC Pembroke for the 2025 crown.
The Trailblazers took the lead with a field goal in the middle of the first quarter before 25th-ranked UNC Pembroke responded with a touchdown on the next possession. North Greenville the evened the score at 6-6 with another field goal early in the second quarter.
Nearly three minutes later, Tre Robinson ran for a nine-yard touchdown, giving UNC Pembroke a 13-6 lead. North Greenville responded with a Dylan Ramirez rushing touchdown with 3:42 remaining in the first half. Ramirez then rank for another touchdown with 1:04 remaining in the half, giving the Trailblazers a 20-13 lead at the half.
Out of the break, Robinson completed a 48-yard touchdown to Malik Brown for the Braves, evening the score at 20. On the ensuing possession, Ramirez completed a pass to Sam Washam, giving North Greenville a 27-20 lead with 11:07 remaining in the third quarter.
The score remained the same until another Ramirez rushing touchdown with 5:23 remaining, giving North Greenville a 34-20 lead. The Trailblazers then sealed the 34-20 win with a Jerrick Foster interception at their own 30 yard line with 2:23 remaining.
Ramirez was named MVP after going 15-for-20 for 261 yards and one touchdown. He also rushed for 40 yards on 14 carries and scored three touchdowns.
North Greenville earns the Conference Carolinas automatic bid into the NCAA Division II Football Championship. The selection show will air on NCAA.com on Sunday, November 16 at 6:00 p.m.
