Offense
Jada Byers
Running Back
Virginia Union
Byers' big day was the key to Virginia Union's upset win over #2 Valdsta State.
The sophomore running back set a CIAA record with 319 yards rushing on 32 carries and ran for three touchdowns. His back to back touchdowns, from 52 and 50 yards, turned a four point game into a 45-27 lead. He also caught three passes for 23 yards and a touchdown.
Defense
Shon Stephens
Defensive Back
West Liberty
Stephens made a huge impact any time Alderson Broaddus tried to throw. The junior defensive back set an MEC record with four interceptions in WLU's 30-17 win.
In spite of the fact that he intercepted a pass in the end zone earlier in the game, the most important interception might have come in the fourth quarter. A-B had the ball trailing only by six, but Stephens halted the potential go-ahead drive with an interception that he retured 52 yards for a touchdown.
Special Teams
Redd Douglas
Kick Returner
Shippensburg
Douglad dominated in the kick return game in Shippensburg's 36-17 win against Seton Hill.
He returned four kicks for an average of 58.2 yards, including a 100-yard return in the second quarter. While it did not factor into his selection as Player of the Week, he also caught six passes for 113 yards and two touchdowns.
