Week Eleven of PSAC Football is now in the books.The PSAC Championship has been decided and the regular season is over as is the season for 13 of the 16 teams in the PSAC. #16 IUP beat #6 Shepherd in the PSAC Championship Game 24-21. Sunday night we found out that #6 Shepherd (10-1), #10 Slippery Rock (9-2), and #16 IUP (9-1) all made the NCAA Division II Super Region One Playoffs. IUP is ranked number one and gets a bye in the opening round. Shepherd and Slippery Rock will be in action this weekend coming up. Keep reading below to see how the regular season finished up for each team and what’s next for the PSAC teams advancing to the Super Region One Playoffs. I was five of eight on my predictions last week and I was 71 of 95 for the regular season (74.7%). Later this week, I will have Super Region One previews and my predictions for the PSAC teams in action on Saturday.
PSAC EAST
#6 Shepherd (10-1, 7-0 PSAC East) Week 11, the Rams lost the PSAC Championship Game to IUP 24-21. On Sunday night, Shepherd was named the number two team in Super Region One and will open the playoffs this Saturday, 11/19/22, at home. They will host New Haven (8-2).
Kutztown (8-3, 5-2 PSAC East) Week 11, the Golden Bears beat Slippery Rock 23-21.
West Chester (7-4, 4-3 PSAC East) Week 11, the Golden Rams beat Clarion 36-27.
Millersville (5-6, 4-3 PSAC East) Week 11, the Marauders beat Seton Hill 14-10.
East Stroudsburg (4-7, 3-4 PSAC East) Week 11, the Warriors lost to California (PA) 31-7.
Shippensburg (5-6, 3-4 PSAC East) Week 11, the Raiders beat Gannon 35-28. Freshman quarterback Evan Falco was named the PSAC East Offensive Athlete of the Week. He was 16 of 32 for 221 yards with two touchdowns as the Raiders defeated the then ranked number seven team in Super region One, Gannon. Sophomore linebacker Matt Feeney was named the PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week. Feeney had six tackles, a fumble recovery on a punt, and an interception.
Bloomsburg (4-7, 2-5 PSAC East) Week 11, the Huskies beat Mercyhurst 16-13. Freshman kicker Brendan McGonigle was named the PSAC East Special Teams Athlete of the Week. He made all a three field goals he attempted including the 22 yard game winner.
Lock Haven (1-10, 0-7 PSAC East) Week 11, the Bald Eagles lost to Edinboro 26-13.
PSAC WEST
#16 IUP (9-1, 6-1 PSAC West) – PSAC CHAMPION Week 11, the Crimson Hawks beat Shepherd 24-21 in the PSAC Championship Game. QB Mak Sexton was named the Player of the Game and he was also named the PSAC West Offensive Athlete of the Week. He was 16 of 29 for 169 yards and had three touchdown passes in the win. On Sunday night, IUP was named the number one team in Super Region One. They will have a bye this week, Saturday 11/19/22, and will play at home on Saturday 11/26/22. They will face the winner of the Notre Dame (OH) (9-2) at Ashland (9-1) game being played this week.
#10 Slippery Rock (9-2, 6-1 PSAC West) Week 11, the Rock lost to Kutztown 23-21. Slippery Rock found out Sunday night they made the Super Region One bracket and they will be on the road in the first round of the playoffs. They will travel to number three Assumption (8-2) on Saturday.
Gannon (8-3, 6-1 PSAC West) Week 11, the Golden Knights lost to Shippensburg 35-28.
California (PA) (5-5, 4-3 PSAC West) Week 11, the Vulcans beat East Stroudsburg 31-7. Junior linebacker Matt Tobey was named the PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Week. Tobey had a season high 11 tackles and a career high 2.5 sacks. Two of the sacks were strip sacks which resulted in Vulcan touchdowns. Senior linebacker Gabe Miller was named the PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Week. He recorded his third blocked kick of the season blocking a punt in the fourth quarter. On defense, he had an interception, two tackles with a 0.5 tackle for loss.
Edinboro (5-6, 2-5 PSAC West) Week 11, the Scots beat Lock Haven 26-13.
Clarion (3-8, 2-5 PSAC West) Week 11, the Golden Eagles lost to West Chester 36-27.
Seton Hill (2-9, 2-5 PSAC West) Week 11, the Griffins lost to Millersville14-10.
Mercyhurst (2-9, 0-7 PSAC West) Week 11, the Lakers lost to Bloomsburg 16-13.
