Week Three of the season is coming up as the 75th Anniversary for the PSAC continues. We have another Crossover Week this week with the games split between the East and the West. This is the last week of contests before Divisional Games start next week in Week Four. All three teams included in this week’s D2Football Top 25 Poll, who all won last week and remain undefeated, will be playing at home on Saturday. #3 Kutztown (2-0, 0-0 PSAC East) is up one spot since last week while #9 Slippery Rock (2-0, 0-0 PSAC West) remained in the same as last week. #16 California (PA) (2-0,0-0 PSAC West) slid two spots after moving up four spots the week before. In addition to these three Top 25 teams, Clarion (3-0, 0-0 PSAC West) is the only other PSAC team remaining undefeated here in the early going of this 2025 season.
Shepherd (0-2, 0-0 PSAC East) at Clarion (3-0, 0-0 PSAC West) is my PSAC Game of the Week for Week Three. Shepherd lost in Overtime last week to #9 Slippery Rock and needs a win this week to get things on track. Clarion has the opportunity to start the season 4-0 heading into PSAC West divisional play next week at Edinboro. Keep reading for a preview, and my prediction of this Game of the Week and every PSAC game, coming up in Week Three. First, here is my PSAC power Ranking heading into Saturday.
PSAC Power Ranking heading into Week Three:
PSAC Week Three - Saturday, September 20, 2025 – Crossover Week
Lock Haven (1-1, 0-0 PSAC East) at #16 California (PA) (2-0, 0-0 PSAC West) - 12 Noon
Lock Haven lost 42-10 to IUP last week. The Bald Eagle offense did not score in the game. The Bald Eagles previously beat Glenville State 16-13.
#16 California (PA) won last week beating West Chester 26-24 after coming from behind in the fourth quarter after beating a Top 25, Charleston, the week before.
My Prediction: #16 California (PA) – The Vulcans, while coming together as a 2025 squad, have two nice wins heading into Saturday. Next week’s divisional opener will be one of the top D2 games nationally as Cal heads to #9 Slippery Rock for a Top 25 showdown to determine early on who is in the driver’s seat in the PSAC West.
Gannon (0-3, 0-0 PSAC West) at #3 Kutztown (1-0, 0-0 PSAC East) - 12 Noon
Gannon lost 69-22 to East Stroudsburg last week after previously falling to Davenport, 21-12, and Saginaw Valley State 49-28.
#3 Kutztown won last week beating Edinboro 34-0 after taking down Assumption, 51-14, in their opener.
My Prediction: #3 Kutztown – The Golden Bears started this 2025 season firing on all cylinders scoring in seven of the eight quarters played so far and only giving up 14 total points in two games. Kutztown has one the most solid teams across the board, thanks to so many high caliber returning players, in all of D2 and is the team to beat in the PSAC.
PSAC Game of the Week
Shepherd (0-2, 0-0 PSAC East) at Clarion (3-0, 0-0 PSAC West) – 1 PM
Shepherd lost 35-28 last week to #9 Slippery Rock in Overtime after falling to Frostburg State 41-27 in their opener.
Clarion won last week beating Shippensburg 31-24 as they continued their impressive start to the season after previous wins over Wheeling, 34-0, and West Virginia Wesleyan 48-20.
My Prediction: Clarion – The Golden Eagles win this one at home to go to 4-0 heading into divisional games next week. This is a pivotal game for both the Rams, to turn things around, and the Golden Eagles, to make a statement.
Edinboro (1-1, 0-0 PSAC West) at Bloomsburg (0-2, 0-0 PSAC East) – 2 PM
Edinboro lost last week 34-0 to #3 Kutztown, the top team in the PSAC East, after previously beating East Stroudsburg 29-14 who was picked to finish second in the PSAC East in the preseason.
Bloomsburg lost last week 31-28 to Seton Hill after losing in their opener to Fairmont State 41-40 in Overtime.
My Prediction: Bloomsburg – The Huskies get into the win column this week before heading to Shippensburg next week to open divisional play.
Millersville (0-1, 0-0 PSAC East) at IUP (1-1, 0-0 PSAC West) – 2 PM
Millersville lost last week 44-28 to Glenville State after falling to Frostburg State, 42-34, in their opener.
IUP won last week beating Lock Haven 42-10 as Quarterback Matthew Rueve tied an IUP game record throwing five touchdown passes in the win. IUP lost to a Top 25 team, Ashland, 13-9 in their opener.
My Prediction: IUP – The Crimson Hawks will continue to come together in this one as they get ready to open divisional play on the road next week at Seton Hill.
Seton Hill (2-1, 0-0 PSAC West) at West Chester (1-1, 0-0 PSAC East) – 2 PM
Seton Hill won last week beating Bloomsburg 31-28 after going 1-1 in weeks prior, losing to Fairmont State 24-21 in their opener and beating West Liberty University 42-21.
West Chester lost 26-24 last week to #16 California (PA) after beating Bentley 30-13 in their opener.
My Prediction: West Chester – The Golden Rams get the win in this one at home, in what could be a very tight game, before heading to Millersville next week to open divisional play.
Shippensburg (0-2, 0-0 PSAC East) at #9 Slippery Rock (2-0, 0-0 PSAC West) – 6 PM
Shippensburg lost 31-24 last week to Clarion after dropping their opener 23-7 to Bowie State.
#9 Slippery Rock won last week beating Shepherd 35-28 in Overtime after defeating Franklin Pierce 24-13 on the road in their opener.
My Prediction: Slippery Rock – The Rock gets another night game win at home while having four more quarters of play to continue to forge their identity this season. Division play starts next week and the opener will yield who is the early season top team in the PSAC West as the Rock hosts fellow Top 25 team California (PA).
East Stroudsburg (2-1, 0-0 PSAC West) won last week beating Gannon 69-22. Noteworthy in the win, Quarterback Sean McTaggart was a perfect 10 for 10 with 212 yards passing and a 410.1 pass efficiency rating. He also threw four touchdown passes. The Warriors lost their opener 29-14 to Edinboro and then beat Pace 31-12.
Next Up: Next week, Week Four, away at Lock Haven to open division play.
