ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Henderson State saved its best performance for last, using one of its best offensive games of the season to win the 98th Battle of the Ravine in dominant fashion, 41-14.
This win marks Henderson's second consecutive win at Cliff Harris Stadium; the Reddies have won two of the previous three matchups with rival Ouachita Baptist.
HSU got the football to start the game, but could not take advantage, punting the ball away after just four plays; the punt was partially blocked, giving the Tigers prime field position.. The Reddie defense came to play, with Gerard Culotta forcing and Bryant Hammond II recovering a fumble on its own 10-yard line to keep Ouachita out of the end zone.
The teams swapped punts before the Reddie offense went 57 yards in nine plays, capped off by a one-yard touchdown run from Jeremiah Davis to take a 7-0 lead before forcing an OBU punt at the end of the first quarter. Henderson once again punted to begin the second, and the Tigers took advantage, striking on a 45-yard touchdown pass from Tre Nichols to Carter McElhany; both teams spent their ensuing possessions punting the ball back and forth to one another.
A Ouachita interception of Reddie quarterback Andrew Edwards gave the Tigers prime field position, but the HSU defense forced a turnover on downs before a lost fumble (Henderson) and another punt (Ouachita).
It was the Reddies that regained the lead, as Edwards connected with Taylin Paskel on a 13-yard touchdown to set the score at 14-7. The HSU defense struck again, with De'Vonta Roberts intercepting Nichols on the first play of the Ouachita drive for a 35-yard pick-six, giving HSU a two-score lead, a lead which would hold for the remainder of the half.
Henderson forced a Ouachita punt to begin the second half, and the offense took advantage again; Edwards kept the ball himself and ran 81 yards through the Tiger defense for a career-long touchdown run in his final game as a Reddie. That score was the lone points put up in the third quarter, as the Reddies took a 28-7 lead into the final frame.
OBU scored quickly to start the fourth quarter, with Jaylen Boardley running in from two yards away. That would be the last time the Tigers scored. HSU answered right back, as Edwards hit Chris Gannaway on a wheel route for a 54-yard touchdown. After forcing another three-and-out, it was Jeremiah Davis again, this time with a one-yard touchdown run, his second of the game, to set the final score at 41-14.
Edwards was 22-of-34 passing for 283 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. He also added the rushing touchdown and was credited with 83 yards on eight rushes. Jeremiah Davis ran the ball 14 times for 62 yards. Maddox Davis was the leading receiver on the day: although he didn't catch a touchdown, he led the team with seven catches for 70 yards. Cayden Davis hauled in six catches for 59 yards.
Gerard Culotta starred for the defense again, accumulating 12 tackles, including two sacks, a forced fumble, and a quarterback hurry. Roberts hauled in the lone interception for the Henderson defense.
The Reddies finish the 2025 season with an 8-3 record, tied for second-best in the Great American Conference.
