Tuskegee rallied for a game‑winning touchdown drive with under six minutes to play in Thursday night’s nationally televised matchup against No. 20 Benedict. Tuskegee evened its record at 2‑2 and stayed perfect in conference play at 2‑0. Benedict lost for the first time this season, dropping to 3‑1 overall and 1‑1 in the SIAC standings.
For three quarters, the Golden Tigers led for all but a few minutes of the action. Benedict scored on the first play of the final period to surge ahead 17‑13. Tuskegee’s offense returned to the field with a backup quarterback after starter Bryson McGrew left the game due to injury. But Khalib Johnson was up to the task and led the unit on a 57‑yard scoring drive that culminated with a perfect strike to Preston Parker in the end zone from 31 yards out.
Before leaving the game, McGrew completed 11 of 17 passes for 142 yards and a touchdown. He also added a rushing score. J’Khael Rowser ignited the Golden Tiger offense with 124 rushing yards. Defensively, Tuskegee frustrated the Benedict passing attack all night. Benedict’s Jett Peddy completed only 15 of 35 pass attempts and was intercepted twice. The second of those interceptions occurred in the red zone with under two minutes to play. Facing a 3rd‑and‑7 at the Tuskegee 10, Peddy fired toward the end zone but was picked off by Keenan Libecca, ending the threat and securing the win for Tuskegee.
