The Univeristy of Sioux Falls won four national championships in NAIA competition (1996, 2006, 2008, 2009) before reclassifying to NCAA Division II in 2011. Three of USF's titles were acheived under the direction of Kalen DeBoer, current head coach at the University of Alabama. Bob Young, who led the team to its first national championship in 1996, is the program's winningest coach with a career record of 172-69-3. USF's home stadium is named in his honor. The University's athletic teams are known as "The Coo" in reference to the schools mascot, the Cougar. USF meets cross-town rival Augustana each year in the Key To the City Game.
