We are at the point in the season where there is a focus on postseason. Apparently, the conference feels that way too, given that they released key points to their five-year strategic plan.

Fayetteville State’s victory over Virginia State caught many by surprise. The Broncos just had not seem to get their offense in gear before breaking out against Elizabeth City State.

Virginia State has quietly conducted their business to start the season. The quiet part became a little less so in their 34-33 win over Winston-Salem State last weekend.

It is a pivotal week in the CIAA, with conference play partially starting up. Several of the old south division teams will have their games count for conference play, while the old north division teams will not have this week’s games count in the standings.

The topsy turvy CIAA threw me for a loop last week. Week 0 felt like the conference underperformed, and admittedly I went very bearish, even with games that I would ordinarily think that teams would win or would at least be competitive (looks at Winston-Salem State, and the BSUs).
