Week 6 Recap Last week’s afternoon session was something else. Texas A&M-Kingsville and Western Oregon went back and forth the whole way, but TAMUK made the one stop they needed to pull the game out.

Week 5 Recap I joked last week about having fever-induced upset picks last week due to a reaction to my Shingles vaccine when I was trying to finish last week’s column. Now, according to the nurse who gave me the vaccine and forum member ASUPops, the reaction is fairly common but still preferable to having the real thing.

Week 4 Recap There was one big upset in Oregon as Angelo State finally gets over the hump and beats Western Oregon in overtime to win their first game of the season. Also, Midwestern State broke open a close game late to win the Highway 287 Rivalry game over West Texas A&M.

Week 2 Recap In a very light (but significant) Week 2, we had Central Washington giving all they could against the defending national champions. We also had UTPB opening up conference play with a cold dose of reality to WNMU and getting coach Chris Softley his first win as a college head coach.

Week 1 Recap Ouch. The LSC took it on the chin again in the non-conference, going 2-7 last week.

LSC Week Zero Preview OK, why do they call this “Week Zero”? Does it mean that this week doesn’t really exist, so therefore all the games played this week don’t really matter, and no losses count toward playoff standings for anybody?

2026 Lone Star Conference Season PreviewOh, how close it was…LSC runners-up Texas-Permian Basin had mighty Harding on the ropes, but Kanon Gibson and the Falcons couldn’t get over the top in the Super Region 4 Final, losing 34-28 in what would be Gibson’s, head coach Kris McCullough’s, and star linebacker Tristan Exline’s final game at UTPB. Unfortunately, moments like this, which in the past could be an indication of future success, now feel like distant memories of an all-too-brief brush with greatness.
