More LSC Coaching News Texas-Permian Basin head coach Justin Carrigan has stepped down from the position to join the UTPB Athletic Department as Deputy Athletic Director. Carrigan was hired by UTPB as the program’s first head football coach in 2015, and he finished the 2022 season with a 5-6 record.

Playoffs Week 1 PreviewNow that the playoff teams have been announced, let’s look at the seedings and first-round matchups: Angelo State (11-0) –

In the final regular-season week for the LSC, Angelo State finished off an undefeated regular season behind a dominant third quarter to pull away from Midwestern State. Western Oregon won a back-and-forth battle at Texas A&M-Kingsville and Central Washington got out big and stayed well ahead of Texas-Permian Basin.

Angelo State LSC ChampionsWith their win over Central Washington, Angelo State moved to 10-0 and 8-0 in the LSC, a full three games over their closest pursuers. The Rams win their first outright LSC championship since 1984 and look to finish an undefeated season this coming week at a streaking Midwestern State.

On a day where there were many upsets at all levels of college football, the LSC was not immune to the upset bug. Both Texas A&M-Kingsville and West Texas A&M lost on last-second touchdown drives to damage their playoff hopes.
